Timothy Nishimoto grew up in Los Angeles and started singing and performing at the age of two (winning a dance contest at the age of five!) in church choirs with his family. Throughout high school and college, he continued singing and performing in vocal jazz ensembles, barbershop quartets and theatrical productions. He graduated with a degree in Business from Cal State Long Beach, and has been a critically acclaimed successful restaurateur and sommelier in his adopted hometown of Portland, Oregon. In the early days of Pink Martini, he performed with the band as a guest vocalist, and has been a permanent member since 2003, taking lead vocals on a number of the band’s most popular live songs, including ¿Dónde estás, Yolanda? and Zundoko-bushi. A magnetic presence on stage with his smooth suits and even smoother dance moves, he also sings backup vocals, performs in the band’s percussion section, and is Pink Martini’s primary social media documenter while the band is on tour. He and his partner live in the beautiful countryside outside of Portland, with their giant Bernese Mountain Dogs.
