Filmed during during isolation in 2020, this project had to be set aside while other projects needed our limited time and attention. Featuring China Forbes, Ari Shapiro, and Ida Rae Cahana as vocalists, each musician was tasked with recording their video and audio in natural spaces they could reach. This stunning video is the result and we hope it brings you a little joy today.

Pink Martini's popular concert favorite "Ich dich liebe" was, as bandleader Thomas Lauderdale reminds the audience, originally sung by Mamie Van Doren in the 1964 German Western "Freddy und das Lied der Prärie" ("Freddy and the Song of the Prairie"). Written by Lotar Olias, Max Kolpé and Karl Vibach, the song was recorded on Pink Martini's 2013 album "Get Happy." This compilation, featuring Storm Large, is comprised of performances from Pink Martini's 2024 European tour.

Pink Martini vocalist Timothy Nishimoto sings "Zundoko-bushi" at Pink Martini's picturesque concert atop Mount Lycabettus in Athens, Greece. This song, with lyrics in Japanese by an anonymous soldier, first appeared on Pink Martini's 2013 album Get Happy.

The song originally appeared in the film "Flying Down to Rio" where it was danced to by Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. Hunter Noack's acclaimed concert series "In a Landscape" (https://www.inalandscape.org/) features live classical performances by Noack on a 9' Steinway in beautiful and extreme wilderness areas, with audience members listening on wireless headphones as they wander in areas of natural beauty.

In 2016, our friend Iyad Qasem created new lyrics in Arabic for "La soledad." Iyad's lyrics beautifully explore the nostalgic sentiment of homesickness from an immigrant's perspective. Thomas Lauderdale opens the song on piano with an excerpt from Chopin's Andante Spianato, Op. 22.
