Dan Faehnle is Pink Martini’s polymath of the guitar, known as much for his legendary solos as for his ease fitting into a wide variety of musical styles. A native of Toledo, Ohio, Dan started playing with Pink Martini around the time of the release of the band’s 1997 debut album Sympathique, and he composed the song “Ohayoo Ohio” which can be heard on the band’s fourth studio album, Splendor in the Grass. He’s also internationally recognized for holding the guitar chair in Diana Krall’s band for several years, starting in 2000, garnering accolades from such publications as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, JazzTimes and Downbeat magazines, as well as many international publications. He has collaborated with other renowned jazz greats, including Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joey DeFrancesco, Delfeayo Marsalis, Dave Frishberg and Rebecca Kilgore, in addition to performing in combos often with Portland, Oregon’s top jazz players. His solo recordings include My Ideal and Ohio Lunch.
